What surfaces can I paint on?
The paint is suitable for use on most surfaces including - paper, card, wood, metal, masonry, plaster, most plastics, fabrics and pottery.
Does the paint require thinning?
The paint is ready to use but can be thinned if required by up to 5% with water. Care has to be taken not to over dilute the paint as this can diminish the glow.
How long does the paint take to dry?
The drying time depends on the conditions under which it is being applied but in general:
Touch dry - 15 to 20 minutes Ready to handle - 30 to 45 Ready to re-coat - 30 to 60 minutes
How do I clean up?
Clean up is done with warm soapy water.
Are the paints suitable for commercial applications?
Certainly. The paints are high performance commercial grade paints. Prospective users are recommended to purchase a sample in order to evaluate the paints suitability for the recommended application.
Can I buy this paint at a local DIY/Craft store?
Superstarz glow paints are high performance, comercial grade glow paints which are not available from high street shops.
Can the paints be used outside?
The paints are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. They can be used outdoors without requiring a top-coat unless the surfaces will be subject to heavy traffic in which case 1 or 2 top-coats of an appropriate sealer would be recommended.
Can the paints be safely used by children for finger painting and general craft projects?
Yes, the paints are completely safe for use by children as finger paints and other applications.
How can I improve the paints performance?
Applying the paint to a white or light coloured background will help to achieve maximum performance of the paint. Black surfaces may be used but black will absorb the light and the glow effect will be greatly diminished.
How do I charge the paint?
Superstarz paint responds best to light sources rich in UV rays such as sunlight, blacklight/UV light and halogen lamps. Tungsten lights (typical household bulbs) take longer to charge the paintsas their UV output is low.
Sunlight - 5 minutes UV/Blacklight - 5/10 minutes Normal light - 20 to 30 minutes
How many times can I charge the paint?
You can charge the paints over and over indefinitely.
What colour are the paints in daylight?
The paints are daytime invisible and dry to a white/off-white colour.
What quantities are the paints available in?
The paints are available in 10ml/30ml/60ml/120ml/250ml/500ml and 1 litre quantities.
How much area does the paint cover?
The paints are best applied as thin layers. Generally speaking, the thicker the layer of glow paint, the longer and brighter the afterglow.
A 30ml pot will cover an area equivalent to an A4 piece of paper.
A 60ml pot will cover an area equivalent to an A3 piece of paper.
A 120ml pot will cover an area equivelent to an A2 piece of paper.
A 250ml pot will cover an area equivalent to 1 sq.m.
A 500ml pot will cover an area equivalent to 2 sq.m.
A 1 litre pot will cover an area equivalent to 4 sq.m.
What are the afterglow times?
Green - 12+ hours Aqua - 10 hours Blue - 8 hours Purple - 1 to 2 hours
Do the paints have an odour?
Once dry the paints are odourless.
